Have a question?

Inclusion, equity and diversity are words often cited in university strategic plans. Why do these concepts matter in higher education? How do we convert the principles of inclusion into practice? In this unique microcredential from UTS Open, you’ll explore the theories and frameworks of equity, inclusion and social justice and learn to design practical solutions that bring these concepts to life in the higher education environment.

About this microcredential

Expand your inclusive practitioner toolkit by engaging deeply with the equity, social justice and social inclusion literature and exploring a range of useful activities and strategies.

This interactive microcredential will introduce you to the fundamentals of equity, human rights and social justice and their role in shaping the higher education space. During the course you will:

  • Explore the mechanisms of inclusion and exclusion in higher education
  • Gain an understanding of the experiences of historically marginalised groups
  • Consider how culture, diversity and identity impact on learning and social interaction
  • Examine the principles for inclusion and adapt them to your own professional context in higher education
  • Learn how to create conditions for change that produce greater inclusion and wider participation
  • Identify opportunities to translate your theoretical learning into practice in your own work and life
