This course is divided into three modules. Participants will be guided through a set of structured, self-paced activities supported with content, complemented by independent reading and participation in online discussions.
Module 1: Indigenous research theory and methodology
- Explore the work of key international and Australian Indigenous research theorists
- Examine colonising research
- Explore decolonising research methodologies and research practices.
Module 2: Indigenous research ethics and protocols in practice
- Learn how to apply Indigenous research methodology principles
- Examine various ethical guidelines and consider examples of these in practice
- Consider the requirements of completing an ethics application when undertaking Indigenous research.
Module 3: Supervisory practice expectations with Indigenous and non-Indigenous students
- Discuss supervision practices such as thesis examination
- Explore the student experience of higher degree research
- Share examples of good practice in Indigenous research supervision.
